November 18, 2010, 3:25 PM — Comments attributed to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak by a Dutch newspaper that Google's Android will dominate the mobile OS market were misconstrued, says Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
In the original write-up of the interview on Engadget, Woz was reported to have told a writer for De Telegraaf that Google's mobile operating system eventually will dominate the smartphone platform market because "Android phones have more features" than Apple's iPhone OS.
But Woz now says he was misquoted, according to an Engadget update. See, that's what happens when you give an interview over a lunch of space cakes and hash brownies. (I kid The Woz. I kid him.)
According to Steve, that's about it -- he says he'd "never" say that Android was better than iOS, and that "Almost every app I have is better on the iPhone." Woz did say he lightly prognosticated that Android would become more popular "based on what I've read," but that he expects Android "to be a lot like Windows... I'm not trying to put Android down, but I'm not suggesting it's better than iOS by any stretch of the imagination. But it can get greater market share and still be crappy."
True, but it probably seems a lot less crappy after a couple of "cosmic cookies." I'm just sayin'.
And yes, Google, that marketing slogan will cost you.
