Why AT&T Killed Google Voice

August 19, 2009, 12:37 PM — Telecom operators are yesterday's business. It's time for a national data policy that encourages innovation. Andy Kessler in the Wall Street Journal discusses Apple's rejection earlier this month of an application for the iPhone called Google Voice, and the ensuing chain of events. Says Kessler: "I'd start with a simple idea. There is no such thing as voice or text or music or TV shows or video. They are all just data." See his four suggestions for a national data policy.
