Looking for a deal on a productivity-boosting Chromebook? Look for the upcoming Dell Chromebook 11, which could be the best Chromebook ever. Will it really be the best? Read on for details.

The Dell Chromebook 11 isn't yet available, but will be here by next month, Dell says. So if you want a Chromebook before then, look for either the Samsung Chromebook, Acer 720 or HP Chromebook 14. If you want advice in picking the best one, check out my blog Chromebook shootout: Which is best, the Samsung, Acer 720 or HP Chromebook 14?.

If you can wait a month, though, your best bet will be the Dell Chromebook 11. It's got power, plenty of RAM, and lots of extras, and with what seems to be a great price.

As is the case with the best Chromebooks, it's powered by Intel's latest Haswell generation of chips. Unlike many other Chromebook, it will come with 4 GB of RAM, which means it will be able to handle anything you throw at it, considering that 2 GB is usually more than enough you need in Chrome.

The other specs are solid as well -- an 11.6-inch 1366 by 768 pixel screen, 16 GB solid state drive, 720p webcam, and a battery rated at 10 hours. Its got plenty of connectivity and ports, including 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, two USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 4.0 and an HDMI port. It weighs 2.9 pounds. And it will sell for "under $300" in Dell's words. In other words, $299.

At that price and weight, and with that amount of RAM and all those ports, this is clearly the one I'd buy if I were looking for a Chromebook. If you're in the market, you should consider it as well.

There is a catch, though. Dell is marketing it directly at the educational market. Still, Dell says that you'll be able to buy it straight from Dell Web site when it's available. And don't be surprised if ultimately there will be a consumer-marketed version as well.
