How to stop Android apps from spying on me?

    Posted February 17, 2014 - 7:21 pm

Whenever an Android app is installed, you get the butcher’s bill for all the services that you have to allow it to have access to in return for being able to use it. Many times it makes sense - if I am using a messaging app, it obviously needs to have SMS access.

  • Question

Are there legitimate reasons to oppose smartphone kill switches?

    Posted February 7, 2014 - 7:22 pm

There have been efforts by consumer groups to have “kill switches” built into smartphones so that if the devices are lost or stolen, the kill switch can be remotely activated, making them useless and preventing theft of data. This would remove much of the incentive for theft of devices, and would seem to be a good idea.

Choosing between Samsung Galaxy S4 3G and LTE?

    Posted January 17, 2014 - 3:25 am

Recently, my 2-month old white S4 LTE got stolen. I'm planning to buy a quick replacement S4. And since S4 has recently added new colors to the original black and white, I'm inclined to get either the blue or red. Problem is, these colors are always not available for S4 LTE but easily available for S4 3G.
