There was a ton of chatter about the "Facebook Phone" which turned out merely to be a skin/launcher (at least that's how I understand it). Is it actually worth installing if you are a Facebook user?

The new "cybersecurity" bill is up for a vote this week. It essentially gives private companies the right to search your data, including SMS, emails, files stores in the cloud, etc. with the government, without the need for any warrant or judicial oversight.

Well, first off - good luck! It's always exciting to make a career change, and I hope it works out for you. Now your specific questions are outside of my area of expertise, but I would suggest having a look at salary.com and the U.S.

What is a good rule of thumb to follow for penetration testing for IT security? How often is sufficient vs. being a waste of resources?

Don't forget, there is one advantage that is unique to Amazon Prime - it means free 2-day shipping on your orders from Amazon. This can essentially make Amazon Prime pay for itself over a year if you do a lot of your shopping through Amazon.

Is there an easy guide on how to jailbreak an iPhone 5 / iOS 6?

I've seen figures that suggest that about 25% of total internet usage is actually Facebook (not talking bandwidth, the champ there is Netflix). That 25% or so is unavailable to Google, so there is a lot of information that up to this point has not been indexed for searches.

I agree with Christopher, it sounds like a clogged nozzle. Try running a few cleaning cycles, and dollars to donuts you will be back in business.

I think K9 Web Protection would be worth trying, especially since it's free to try. It doesn't have all the features of WebWatcher, but it has one thing that you need - it works on iOS. Here is a side by side comparison of the two.

I've used WordPress for a while, but never really loved it. It is pretty simple to use, but I find some things about the content management system to be clunky, and it seems like I see the same basic WordPress look everywhere I go. My main beef with Wordpress is that it seems to be a magnet like nothing else for spam spiders.

Cookies, history lists, toolbar add ons. You can use Ctrl+Shift+P as a shortcut, by the way. It doesn't hide your IP address, so don't get too crazy while using InPrivate browsing.

Pretty hard, but not impossible. We have a lot of ISP, so there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle. Keep in mind, though, that many American ISPs have a history of doing what the government asks, even when it is illegal. I read an interesting blog on this topic, where the author basically posits that the more ISPs there are, the

Or you just could use the free app from Amazon instead of unnecessarily giving your hard earned money to some unknown company, then spend all the money you saved on another book and a decent bottle of wine to enjoy while reading it.

nchristine answers Re: Would you still use a movie service if it used camera to monitor the number of people watching? All sorts of stupid things get patented, without being actually produced. I think that this is probably one of those, although you never know. I can't imagine anything but a storm of negative publicity if this was ever implemented, assuming that the average Joe ever learned about it.25 weeks 3 days ago

Maybe Microsoft is a little more savvy than they are being given credit for. My news feed included something about the $499 Surface tablet selling out already, three weeks before they even start shipping. I was honestly a little surprised to see that, but hey, welcome to the tablet party Microsoft.

Do any inventory control software suites stand out, or are they all pretty comparable for use by SMBs?

nchristine answers Re: What causes a 50 service error message on a printer, and how do I correct it? That's a printer hardware issue. I assume that is probably an HP printer, which is the only place I've ever seen a 50 Service Error. It may be the same on other devices too, but I don't know if that's the case.30 weeks 18 hours ago

So Facebook has started offering not only businesses but individuals the ability to pay $7 to promote their individual posts. I can maybe......just maybe......understand why a business would pay to increase the visibility of a specific post and stick it at the top of everyone's feed.

When I logged on to Twitter this morning to tweet about my bagel choice for the morning (just kidding), I thought that I was on the wrong site for a moment. It looked like Facebook, actually. What do you think about the new look? Does it indicate a substantive change at Twitter, or is it just window dressing?

So now we know the details about the new iPhone. What's the best new feature of the iPhone 5, and do you think it is worth replacing an iPhone 4 to get one right away?

I was looking for a new, aka bigger, micro SD card, and I noticed that there were different classes listed. For example, on Amazon, there were 16GB class 2 and 16GB class 6 microSD cards listed. What's the difference? Will they all work on my Android tablet, or do I need a certain class of SD card?

nchristine asks How much impact will the Apple vs. Samsung litigation have on the mobile marketplace? Samsung and Apple are obviously two of the biggest players in the mobile market. I haven't been closely following the ongoing litigation, but I have to wonder how much of a difference it makes either way for those of us that don't work for either of the companies. Does the lawsuit really matter to end users?40 weeks 1 day ago

I heard the news this morning that Microsoft was reporting a $492 million loss for the last quarter of 2011. As a child of the 80s-90s, this was a little jarring to hear. The terms Microsoft and loss just don't fit together in my mind. Is Microsoft facing real trouble as a company, or is this a short term thing?

nchristine asks Is a stylus actually useful on mobile devices, or just another unnecessary thing to carry around? How do styluses actually work? I have an HTC One, and for the most part using my fingers to type or otherwise interact with the screen works ok. Maybe I just have big, clumsy fingers or something, but I still get frustrated with mistakes while typing and entering info.43 weeks 17 hours ago

nchristine answers Re: Will you miss the iGoogle homepage, and for those of us that will what are some alternatives? I used to use it much like you do, but over the past year or so I've drifted away from it and tend to just log into Google, then use the tabs at the top of the page to go to google+, search, news, images, etc. It isn't as handy as the iGoogle page though where everything is grouped for you (and by you).43 weeks 3 days ago
