I know how to simply zoom in (Windows key and (+) key), but is there a way to only zoom in on a portion of the page, leaving the rest normally sized?

nchristine answers Re: What’s the difference between Windows mainstream support and extended support? Yes, they will still be getting security patches and updates during extended support. There won’t be non-security updates or additional features added, but I doubt anyone using Vista would be expecting that anyway at this stage of the lifecycle.5 weeks 2 days ago

I know that this is a subjective question, but is it worth the discount in price to purchase a refurbished iPad instead of a brand new one? I’ve bought some products used before, and they were like new, but on the other hand, I bought a used LCD monitor and it had a stuck pixel and lots of surface scuffs.

I asked a question yesterday about choosing a wireless WiFi channel. Thanks for the help, btw! I downloaded WiFi Analyzer for my Android phone and installed inSSIDer on my PC.

When setting up a home network, how do you determine the best channel setting?

A neighbor just got a new tablet made by Archos. When he tried to get apps, he was forced to go to a site calls AppsLib, and couldn’t install apps through Google Play. I thought Google Play was THE source for Android apps. Are some Android devices unable to access it?

I see anecdotal stories about some creep taking over the webcam of some poor unsuspecting virtuous individual, and then viewing the hapless and unaware victim in what they think is a private setting. I’ve never heard of it happening to anyone I know, so I assume it is a rare occurrence. How could someone actually gain control over your webcam?

You need to have end-to-end encryption on your communications, and no record of the conversation. Oh, and use Tor.

You have to use action settings. Just go to Insert>Action Command. Choose Mouse Over and chose the settings you want.

I recently started using the Office 2013 suite and noticed some things have changed. When I typed a word that was consistently, automatically changed by Autocorrect or when I typed a word I commonly misspelled I could right-click on the word and change how Autocorrect handled it. Is there a way to add this to the menu?

A lot of devices are MHL compliant. You noted the Sony Tablet, and most new LG, HTC and Samsung tablets/smartphones are as well. On the display side, HDTVs and displays from the majority of major brands support MHL. I found a list of current of MHL enabled displays.

The thing that makes the WEI numbers a little difficult to use for benchmarking is that the score numbers aren’t easy to translate into plain meaning.

I would say clock speed, which will be felt in almost everything you do, although if you are buying a new machine, the ones with faster CPUs are probably also going to have more cores anyway.

It's been changed over to a web-based admin set-up that is actually quite a bit better in many ways, except that it ties you into MS accounts. It's called Family Safety, and you can set it up to email you so you know exactly what your little angels are getting into from the comfort of your office.

There was a ton of chatter about the "Facebook Phone" which turned out merely to be a skin/launcher (at least that's how I understand it). Is it actually worth installing if you are a Facebook user?

The new "cybersecurity" bill is up for a vote this week. It essentially gives private companies the right to search your data, including SMS, emails, files stores in the cloud, etc. with the government, without the need for any warrant or judicial oversight.

Well, first off - good luck! It's always exciting to make a career change, and I hope it works out for you. Now your specific questions are outside of my area of expertise, but I would suggest having a look at salary.com and the U.S.

What is a good rule of thumb to follow for penetration testing for IT security? How often is sufficient vs. being a waste of resources?

Don't forget, there is one advantage that is unique to Amazon Prime - it means free 2-day shipping on your orders from Amazon. This can essentially make Amazon Prime pay for itself over a year if you do a lot of your shopping through Amazon.

I've seen figures that suggest that about 25% of total internet usage is actually Facebook (not talking bandwidth, the champ there is Netflix). That 25% or so is unavailable to Google, so there is a lot of information that up to this point has not been indexed for searches.

I agree with Christopher, it sounds like a clogged nozzle. Try running a few cleaning cycles, and dollars to donuts you will be back in business.

I think K9 Web Protection would be worth trying, especially since it's free to try. It doesn't have all the features of WebWatcher, but it has one thing that you need - it works on iOS. Here is a side by side comparison of the two.

I've used WordPress for a while, but never really loved it. It is pretty simple to use, but I find some things about the content management system to be clunky, and it seems like I see the same basic WordPress look everywhere I go. My main beef with Wordpress is that it seems to be a magnet like nothing else for spam spiders.

Cookies, history lists, toolbar add ons. You can use Ctrl+Shift+P as a shortcut, by the way. It doesn't hide your IP address, so don't get too crazy while using InPrivate browsing.
