Reliance Globalcom Managed Ethernet Services Drive Network Expansion

 Networking, application, delivery

– Reliance Globalcom, a leading global provider of enterprise, wholesale, consumer and managed services, today announced that international law firm Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP (Paul Hastings) selected its Managed WAN Ethernet and Managed Premium Internet services across offices in Asia, Europe and the U.S. Paul Hastings is leveraging Reliance Globalcom’s expertise in plug-and-play Ethernet technology and control of the world’s largest privately owned fiber backbone to support projections for continuation of its 20 percent year-over-year growth. The ability to mitigate Paul Hastings’ IT risk by improving network reliability and scalability further supported the firm’s choice.

“It was important for us to find a provider that could help support our global growth,” said Stova Wong, chief information officer at Paul Hastings. “Reliance Globalcom has helped us mitigate risk in the face of massive network expansion.”

Reliance Globalcom is deploying a fully managed Layer 2 Ethernet-based virtual private LAN service (VPLS) solution with “any-to-any” connectivity to Paul Hastings’ 18 offices worldwide. The Ethernet-based services support the firm’s increased deployment of collaborative web-based services, including video conferencing, voice over IP (VoIP), document management and messaging systems. With Reliance Globalcom’s service delivery platform and strategic partnerships in multiple regions around the world, Paul Hastings benefits from enhanced service level agreement (SLA) continuity, improved network availability and stability, bandwidth on-demand and support of converged applications – all of which support the firm’s international growth.

Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s leading law firms and is ranked 15th in the U.S. and 23rd in the world, according to the 2008 AM Law 100 survey. Recent M&A activity and pan-European growth at the firm generated a patchwork of service agreements with multiple managed-service providers and ISPs, a situation that introduced unacceptable risk to the firm. The move to Reliance Globalcom’s Managed WAN Ethernet and Premium Internet services streamlined vendor management by eliminating dozens of international contracts – the firm often had separate agreements for Internet and WAN services in the same office – into one global agreement.

“Similar to enterprises in other industries, law firms are capitalizing on the opportunities presented by a world economy,” said John Scanlon, president – Americas, Reliance Globalcom. “It’s imperative for firms like Paul Hastings to have a single, reliable global communications provider with an extensive and robust network. With our international reach and more miles of fiber than any other Ethernet carrier, Reliance Globalcom has become a true partner in growth with these organizations.”
