Creating an MS-DOS Boot Disk in Windows XP

By Jim Pile, ITworld |  How-to 1 comment

I mentioned before that you could create an MS-DOS boot disk in Windows
XP. Several readers have asked about the procedure, so here it is.

Insert a disk into your floppy disk drive and run Windows Explorer.
Right-click the Drive A icon and choose Format. In the Format dialog
box, select the check box labeled 'Create an MS-DOS startup disk' and
then click Start. When the warning dialog appears, click OK to continue.

When the format finishes, click OK in the Format Complete dialog box.
Back in the Format dialog box, click OK to close the dialog box and
continue.

The formatted disk contains the following files:

Autoexec.Bat
Command.Com
Config.Sys
Display.Sys
Ega.Cpi
Ega2.Cpi
Ega3.Cpi
Io.Sys
Keyb.Com
Keyboard.Sys
Keybrd2.Sys
Keybrd3.Sys
Keybrd4.Sys
Mode.Com
Msdos.Sys

Note: I do not open e-mail attachments from people I don't know. If you
have a question, please do not place it in an attachment.

How about creating a bootable USB in WinXP. I really need to know how it is done as widows format tool did not enable the option to create a bootable disk.ThanksHaris
