Changing Face of Linux

By Robert Williams, ITworld |  How-to

Several months ago, we reported on the changing face of the Linux
community. These shifts have dramatically increased. I recently served
as a product judge at the IDG LinuxWorld along with Megamind President
Deb Murray (http://www.megamind.org) and UniForum President Alan Fedder
(http://www.uniforum.org). As we reviewed the "best of breed" Linux
products we were impressed at the different focus and attitude evident
among the leading vendors. I believe we all felt that Linux was at a
crossroads and the spirit of open-source freedom may no longer define
the movement.

Megamind's Murray reflected:

"It's hard to believe the first LinuxWorld Conference and Expo that
was barely able to fill half of the SJ Convention Center happened a
little over 4 years ago [albeit Linux has been around for 10 years]
