How does Precise Pangolin Ubuntu stack up against Windows 8?
Canonical is apparently making a concerted effort to break into the consumer and enterprise market with Precise Pangolin, aka Ubuntu 12.04. Linux has been wildly successful in many areas, but I think it is fair to say that desktop OS is not one of them. In a "stars aligned" sort of timing, a very different Windows is being released at nearly the same time as an Ubuntu release that seems aimed towards an audience that isn't already in love with Linux. Is this actually the distro that could succeed in the desktop market in light of the "newness" of Windows 8?
