ComputerWorld just ran a story about how “netbooks disappoint consumers” according to a recent survey. You know why, don't you? People bought netbooks when they really wanted notebooks, and were disappointed when they didn't get the power and performance of a real notebook while spending hundreds of dollars less. Guess what, folks, a chopped steak is not the same as a t-bone steak, and a used Mazda is not the same as a new Mercedes.
Acer to build laptop with 3-D screen
Hoping to ride a recent surge in movies and TV shows filmed in 3-D, Acer Inc. plans to release a notebook PC this fall equipped with a 15.6-inch 3-D screen, according to a report.
Good riddance: The end of the desktop is near
Years ago, the desktop could be found everywhere. Whether you were checking your email at work or surfing the Web at home, that ugly beige box was sitting everywhere you went. And although I've longed to write this column for years, I can finally say with confidence that the desktop is on its way out and I couldn't be more excited.
