LG's G-Slate/Optimus Pad transforms tablet expectations [video]

The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, officially opens its doors on Monday the 14th, but as is typical for shows like these, we should see some pre-show pressers going on Sunday. Sony Ericsson will be introducing the Xperia Play on Sunday, for instance.

But even ahead of the press conferences we're seeing leaks and sneak peeks popping up. One of my favorites so far has been LG's 3D capable G-Slate. Here's a typical dry, detail-packed teaser from a few weeks back:

But in Europe the G-Slate is called the LG Optimus Pad, and of course that name immediately evokes Optimus Prime for a generation of geeks raised on The Transformers. The teaser for the Optimus Pad goes in an entirely different direction:

Yup, it's another Michael Boy, Steven Spillback production! Nice little taunt in the direction of Apple towards the end, too.
