Westminster Abbey made of LEGOs

By , Network World |  Offbeat, lego, royal wedding

As a way to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, four adult fans of LEGO have built a scale replica model of Westminster Abbey, featuring more than 180,000 bricks and a congregation of almost 400 LEGO mini-figures. The model took the four builders eight weeks to construct, and it features more than 200 different LEGO elements, including nearly 1,000 arches. The windows, which represent the stained glass at the Abbey, were built with transparent bricks, and special bride and groom mini-figures were created from prototype elements at the LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark.
