Squee alerts: Arrested Development Netflix trailer; new S.H.I.E.L.D. teaser

Sneak peeks at geek-based entertainment coming soon to TVs near you

Two quick trailers have hit the InterWebs today in anticipation of upcoming events in the world of television:

First up, Netflix has released its trailer for the new season of "Arrested Development", which it brings to the Internet streaming service on May 26. The critically acclaimed but low-rated TV series ran on Fox from 2003-2006, but high stream views on Netflix has built a larger audience for the quirky TV show to make its return. The 15 episodes of the new season will be released simultaneously, allowing viewers to watch in any order they prefer:

Why You Should Watch: If you didn't catch the series when it originally ran, watching it on Netflix Instant Streaming provides an easy way to catch up between now and May 26. Getting into the series does take a few episodes - many of the jokes take a while to really pay off, and this "smart comedy" rewards viewers who pay attention to some of the longer-running gags or visual gags in the background. Also, success for this show via the Netflix platform means that other low-rated network TV shows might be given new life as well.

The second teaser trailer comes from Marvel, which has a small "teaser trailer" for its new TV show, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", featuring Clark Gregg reprising his role as Agent Coulson from "The Avengers" movie:

Why You Should Watch: Joss Whedon, who directed the "Avengers" movie, is producing the TV show, which means fans of Whedon ("Buffy The Vampire Slayer", "Firefly", etc.) will have even more Whedon to love. Personally, I'm hoping that this series takes place after the events of The Avengers, because it means that Agent Coulson has survived - and is not some sort of prequel. I'd also be OK with a clone.

Overall, a pretty squee-tastic day in May, wouldn't you say?
