February 10, 2009, 9:02 AM — A Brazilian man was awarded compensatory damages from a store that sold him a faulty television set. According to the judge in the case, this is because, in this degenerate age, a television set is deemed an "essential good". "Without it, how can the owner watch the beautiful women on 'Big Brother,' the national news broadcast, or a football game?" the judge asked. No word yet on whether we can sue our Internet provider when downtimes prevent us from checking our favorite blogs for agonizing minutes at a time. Keep reading
