Space shuttle carries basketballs into space, for some reason

By Amy Bennett  Add a new comment

Space shuttle Atlantis is currently orbiting the Earth on a mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope so that it can continue its observations of the distant cosmos. Onboard is a century-old basketball that telescope namesake Edwin Hubble once actually used in a collegiate game, which is therefore totally relevant and worthy of packing onto the craft. The shuttle is also carrying a ball used by the Harlem Globetrotters, because why not.
