July 20, 2009, 10:00 AM — What do you make of the tale of the 15-year-old who plummeted into an open manhole in New York City while walking and texting? Should the city bear responsibility for leaving the manhole uncovered, without any signs or cones marking the opening? Should the young lady perhaps have been looking at where she was walking rather than putting her nose to her phone's screen? Or is this a situation where there are no winners?
