Halloween will be here in a few short days! Are you prepared? This holiday has traditionally given everyone the chance to show off their costuming creativity, and as anyone who's ever been to Otakon knows that geeks are no exception. Costumes from geek culture can be a refreshing change from the endless parade of zombies or sexy [fill in the blank]s that dominate most Halloween parties.

Nevertheless, the geek costume subgenre has begun to fall prey to cliches of its own! In this slideshow, we offer suggestions for new and exciting costume ideas, and tips on how to make more run-of-the-mill costumes fresh.
