Now that 85 percent of Americans have mobile phones, gadget fiends have had to stay ahead of the pack by buying ever more complex smartphones, and ostentatiously using them everywhere, much to the annoyance of everyone else. The only way to be more in-your-face about them would be to actually dress up as one. Apple haters will need to come to terms with the fact that the iPhone, as the it's the only smartphone that's instantly recognizable. You don't want to be the one spending all evening saying, "No, I'm a Palm Pre. A Pre. From Palm. It's a phone."

If you want to increase your degree of difficulty, try rigging up a hidden sound system so your costume rings, puts callers on speakerphone, and, for extra fun, vibrates.
