Point-to-multipoint OSPF network type over frame-relay is what I like to call the "cheater method". Why?

In our last two installments we looked at the non-broadcast and broadcast network types for OSPF over frame-relay. In this article we will be taking a look at the point-to-point network type. One thing I always remember regarding frame-relay and OSPF is that a network type of "point-to-ANYTHING" does NOT have a DR/BDR.

In part I of our series, we looked at the default OSPF network type on frame-relay (non-broadcast). This begs the question of "OK we know non-broadcast, now what about broadcast?" Excellent, let's get started!

Many students understand the fundamental concepts, but get thrown for a loop when it comes to OSPF running over a frame-relay topology. There are so many different network types and variations, that it can quickly become confusing.
