Smartphone maker Palm received a $100 million cash infusion from a venture capital firm on Monday that could lift the company from its sagging fortunes.
Palm launched an online store where users can buy software directly from their handsets, becoming the latest phone maker to follow in Apple's footsteps with an application store.
The possibility of a gadget world without wires took a big step forward Thursday when 14 of the biggest names in consumer electronics said they would work with Sony on its short-range, high-speed "TransferJet" wireless data system.
