August 27, 2012, 4:10 PM — Nintendo is still keeping the launch date of its next home gaming console, the Wii U, a secret. The only problem is these things don't launch in a vacuum and almost every console has third party manufacturers creating accessories for the system.
In the case of the Wii U, one such third party is PDP, and they were showing off their line of accessories to a GameStop Manager's conference. According to Kotaku, the PDP rep mentioned their Wii U accessories will be out "just ahead of the Wii U's November 18 release date." This info was relayed to Kotaku by an anonymous attendee of the meeting, and the same info surfaced on the NeoGaf gaming forums.
PDP is back-pedaling pretty hard but that sounds like a reasonable date to me. You know Nintendo will want to have the system out before Black Friday here in the US and Kotaku points out that Nintendo likes to launch systems on a Sunday.
We'll know for sure (along with pricing) on September 13th when Nintendo holds a Wii U event in NYC but I think it's safe to say you should keep that Sunday open if you're planning on being a launch-day adopter.
