Xbox One video game trailers hit YouTube

What games will we be playing (or hoping to play) by the end of 2013?

By

This week marks the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), in which we hear about new video games set to hit the market by the end of the year. This year's E3 also features updates on new gaming consoles from Sony (the PlayStation 4) and Microsoft (the Xbox One), so this year's show promises to be more exciting than in previous years.

We're already seeing a ton of new trailers on YouTube for the new games - here are my favorites of games announced for the new Xbox One:

Below: "A classic rogue tale with moody graphics and Kinect technology. You'll scour the open world in search of rare and special loot while battling the malevolent Darkness, an artificial intelligence-controlled character that uses Kinect to sense and change level progression based on the room's surroundings." Ummmm, OK? Does that mean I should have my kids watching when I play this? Very odd trailer.

Brothers: "Two brothers. One epic adventure. Two achieve what one cannot." I'm not sure whether you have to play this game with your actual brother, but it has a Fable-like feel to it.

Crimson Dragon: "Humanity has been driven to the brink of extinction on a colonized planet ruled by dragons. Take charge of a powerful dragon and battle for control of the skies in this thrilling flight-based shooter." This could be interesting, as any time I try to fly a plane in a video game, I crash pretty quickly. I'm thinking I could fly a dragon with more skills than a Sopwith Camel.

D4: "An episodic noir mystery, D4 follows the story of a detective with the curious ability to dive back in time. He must use this power to solve his wife's murder, and then try to prevent it." This sounds like a cool departure from the first-person shooting genre, racing game or dancing game motif we get with Xbox.

Dead Rising 3: Zombies.

Destiny: "As a Guardian of the City sets out on an epic, action-packed adventure to reclaim our Solar System, he recalls the moment when he was first taught the moment when he was first taught the most important lesson of all - The Law of the Jungle." With the makers of the original Halo and Call of Duty behind it, this will be huge.

Dying Light: "A first-person action survival horror game set in a vast and dangerous open world." Zombies.

Fantasia: Music Evolved is "inspired by Disney's classic film "Fantasia", but the trailer looks more like a combination of dancing game with modern music.

Forza Motorsport 5: It wouldn't be an Xbox event without a new Forza Motorsport game.

Killer Instinct: The franchise returns (it's been away for about 10 years) with "characters and combos that revolutionized fighting games."

Project Spark: "An open-world digital canvas that enables anyone to build, play, and share whatever they can imagine." This could be very interesting to creative types and those with a ton of time on their hands. Most of mine will be stick-figure like things, not anything you see in the video.

Ryse: Son of Rome: "An immersive action-adventure story of struggle, brutality and heroism, following a fearless Roman soldier named Marius Titus" (not Mario!) "as he seeks to avenge the death of his family and leads an army to save the Roman Empire." Think "God of War", but instead of a Greek god, you're a Roman soldier.

Finally, it wouldn't be an Xbox event without mention of a new "Halo" game. Here's the trailer:

What do you think of the trailers for the new console? Are you excited enough to plop down $500 in November for the new system? Let me know in the comments.
