Jailbreak iPhone apps

Apple's SDK and iTunes App Store rules have prohibited apps that exploit certain iPhone features, such as global UI enhancements (e.g., copy and paste), video recording and streaming, multimedia SMS, Bluetooth file sharing, Internet tethering, and background processing. Apple also blocks apps that don't fit its vision for iPhone usability, including podcasting, direct GPS access, and competing e-mail and Web browser clients. The following 21 apps today run only on jailbroken iPhones. Some of their capabilities will ship with Apple's 3.0 iPhone firmware, but most of them won't.

Apps like Clippy absolutely kill me. Why do we need third party iphone apps to perform such simple tasks as universal copy and paste? It seems this should be a basic option on the OS. Enable universal copy paste..Disable universal copy paste. But, we are forced to get an external, albeit free, app to do this simple task.

Yes, I totally agree with what you're saying.Apple is such a control freak. The main reason I've never bought a mac is because of the level of freedom I can have with it. Don't get me wrong there's a lot going for it, and compared to windows there are the advantages but for someone like me who likes to dig would be too restricted. The iphone is a lovely device, the apps too, the fact that you don't want apps that are great and in some cases better than the stock apps is stupid.I agree once again, I bought the hardware, I own it now...

People wonder why I dislike anything apple. Here are 21 reasons without having to say much of anything else. The control freak nature of Apple is beyond overboard and borders on insanity. Apple treats hardware like it is licensed and not out right bought. This may work for software, however like a PC or Mac the purchaser out right owns the phone therefore has the right to run whatever application he or she wants. Basically stop supporting the Apple gestpo and force them to ease up on the control freak nature.

I ready dont think anyone cares why you dont like apple. the only thing that bothers me is why you feel the need to go to a mac story and post your sad story. Just shut up or go to some windows lovin, gates huggin site and tell them you dont like apply .. it must be a lonley life you lead that you spend your time bashing a product .. get a life losser

I got turned on to Macs a while ago, right after OSX came out. I had a mix of PCs and MAcs. I found that OSX was very elegant on the surface and running on top of Unix, it had a strength I really liked. Over the years, I've found there are things that just drive me nuts as much as certain things in Windows do. Just weird unintuitive navigation, quirks, foibles, etc. But I use Linux as well and I find that every OS has some things that you need to get used to.BUT, Apple has become far worse than MS when it comes to control. I was pretty pissed the first time I rebuild my OSX hard drive and didn't back up my 12GB of music that I had painstakingly put on the computer from hundreds of CDs, SINCE THEY WERE ALREADY ON A STORAGE DEVICE (read: my iPod) only to find that I could not restore them to the new system because of a prior association with another iTunes Library. 3rd party tools did it for me after some searching, but that started my anger with Apple. Then finding out that TV shows I purchased had DRM and couldn't be burned to DVD, you're better off just buying the DVD when it is available and telling Apple to rot. This is why they will never get more market share.
