AccuWeather.com Free for the iPad is the standard for free weather apps. There are many other weather applications that may suit you better, but do yourself a favor and try out this free app first.

When you get the urge to explore a new city, check out Loopt Pulse. This app will give you information on where to eat, drink, and see the largest ball of twine.

Not hugely helpful, but extremely cool
UpNext 3D Cities is a fairly limited app. But what it does, it does very neatly. If you're in Boston, Austin, New York or Washington, DC, you can get a very cool 3D map of the city. You can also choose a venue and the app will tell you about it and where it is. But, hey, it's free and it's a great way to show off that iPad you're toting.
