Star Wars + Police Academy sound effects character = awesomeness
Replacing an orchestral soundtrack with an A cappella one is genius
One of the best scenes in Star Wars: Episode 1 is the lightsaber battle between Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn. For me, it saved the movie from the awfulness that was Jar Jar Binks and the young Anakin.
Anyway, this famous scene has now been awesome-sized (TM 2011) by Matt Mulholland, who took out the original music track (The Dual of the Fates, by John Williams) and provided his own multitrack, A cappella soundtrack.
He does a pretty good job with the music, and the sound effects of the lightsabers remind me of the character in the old Police Academy movies that could do those effects with his voice (played by Michael Winslow).
If you enjoy this, Mulholland also provided an A cappella soundtrack to the famous lobby/guns scene in The Matrix.
