MIT camera captures video at 1 trillion frames/second
New imaging system can show light traveling through objects
MIT Media Lab researchers have uploaded a video showing off their new imaging system that "can acquire visual data at a rate of one trillion frames per second," which is fast enough to produce slow-motion video of light traveling through objects. Applications for this system can be used in medical imaging, where we soon could be conducting ultrasounds with light instead of sound. They're even suggesting consumer photography could benefit, which just means we'll see more slow motion films of things being destroyed by hammers, I'm sure.
