Customer contact services company Convergys Corp. will open two contact centers in the Philippines by the end of July with a capacity when fully complete of 880 workstations, the company said Wednesday.
The centers, under construction in Manila's premier business districts of Makati and Pasig City, will provide technical help desk services and customer support programs 24 hours a day for large companies in the financial services, communications, and consumer products fields, Convergys said in a statement.
Full employment at the new centers will be achieved in the next 12 to 14 months, at which time the centers will represent one of the largest multi-client, U.S.-owned operations in the Philippines, Convergys said.
According to Convergys, the contact centers will provide both general support and advanced technical help desk services to Convergys clients via voice calling, e-mail, and Web chat as well as back office applications and document processing. The Convergys centers will be located close by facilities of other multinational IT companies such as Microsoft Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co.
The announcement of the deal coincided with a visit to the U.S. by Philippines President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during which she met Jack Freker, president of Convergys' customer management group.
Convergys, based in Cincinnati, employs 44,000 people in 45 customer contact centers and data centers worldwide.
