Intel cuts Celeron prices by up to 13 percent

Intel Corp. cut prices of its desktop Celeron microprocessors by up to 13 percent Sunday. Pricing for mobile Celerons and other Intel microprocessors remained unchanged.

Intel cut the price of the 1.20GHz desktop Celeron by 13 percent, from US$79 to $69, according to a notice on its price list Web site. The price of the 1.30GHz model dropped 12 percent, from $84 to $74. At the bottom of the range, Intel cut the price of the 1.10A GHz model by 7 percent from $69 to $64, the same price as the 1A GHz version, which remained unchanged. All of the models in Intel's current desktop Celeron range have 256K bytes of cache memory and are built using its 130-nanometer (0.13-micron) technology.

Prices are for direct Intel customers, excluding taxes and shipping costs, for chips sold in 1,000-unit quantities, the notice said.
