NewTek has released of SpeedEdit version 1.2, a resolution-independent video editor that's designed to work quickly and efficiently on any video project, from Web streams to High-Definition. Amongst the new features included in this version are additional format support, and improved plug-in capability.
New in SpeedEdit 1.2 features include support for writing WMVHD, VC1 and Windows Media Format 11 file, and reading DVCPro HD (MXF) video. VST audio filter plug-in are supported in the upgrade, as is real-time output to NewTek video hardware cards.
Other new functions include Time Code burn-in for both local and project timecode, advanced crossfade types, floating point HDR image reading, expanded DVD-format writing capability, and improved performance, quality, and stability, according to NewTek.
SpeedEdit is now shipping for £299 (US$597) plus VAT. Current owners of the product can download the update from the NewTek Web site.
