The Simpsons honor The Hobbit with awesome couch gag
Sunday's episode will feature this homage to world of Tolkien
I'll admit, I haven't watched a lot of episodes of "The Simpsons" in many, many years. This is mainly due to my advancing age and availability of other cartoon-based entertainment, as well as the perceived notion of "what else can they do after 24+ years of being on TV?" (the show is on its 25th season).
But the show does continue to innovate and break ground, especially with its famous "couch gag" segment in its opening. On Sunday's episode, "Four Regrettings and a Funeral", we get this very cool Hobbit-inspired couch gag:
The TV show also made some headlines with the announcement that another character would perish, as well as the recent news that Marcia Wallace, who voiced Bart's teacher, Edna Krabappel, passed away.
While most of the Internet will likely want to pretend they're cool by announcing The Simpsons as past its prime, it's refreshing to see that the show can still generate some Internet buzz with things like this. I'll be watching on Sunday - will you?
