Nothing raises the dander of the buying public more than knowing that
someone else paid less for something you just bought. I am not even
talking about the time-honored practice of paying wholesale or discount
prices: just a few cents' difference is all it will take to get us
foaming at the mouth. Such is the case recently with Amazon.com's recent
"price test" (in the words of one of their spokespeople) where the same
DVD movies were sold at different prices ranging from $22.74 to $26.24
apiece. Word leaked out through several discussion forums and boy
