Carrier Ethernet has emerged as one of the hottest topics in the telecommunications industry, but questions remain about how fast Ethernet business services will be adopted by enterprise customers, how rapidly Ethernet-based IPTV/VOD consumer services will grow in the longer term, which Ethernet solutions will be widely deployed for WiMax and cellular traffic backhaul, and what is the proper mix of various carrier Ethernet, MPLS, and packet optical technologies in various parts of the network. Moderator : Dr. Shankar Narayanaswamy, VP Network Architecture, Reliance Globalcom . Dr. Shankar Narayanaswamy joined Reliance Globalcom in May 2007 with over 20 years of experience in designing and implementing new products and services. Previously, he held several technical management positions in network engineering and architecture, including the leadership of Covad Communications' network engineering and architecture group. He also served as director of network systems at Sapias. Narayanaswamy was founder and CTO of Telemesis, which delivered end-to-end services for wireless remote access and management. Prior to that, he spent five years at Bell Labs. He has published numerous papers and holds nine patents. He has a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
