We all know that IT staff are a hard-working bunch, but now there's proof.
According to a poll of 500 business workers by IT hosting provider Intermedia.NET, 84% of IT professionals will get little or no Thanksgiving break this year. And IT professionals are 17% more likely than senior executives to have Thanksgiving dinner interrupted by urgent calls from the office.
In addition to working more than non-IT employees, the survey also found that IT folks are also more honest and diligent:
- 6% of IT pros will "pretend to work to avoid relatives," compared to 14% of other office workers.
- 9% of IT pros will deliberately ignore all work calls and e-mails, compared to 19% of other office workers.
The last word: "With IT becoming so critical, it is perhaps no surprise that so many IT professionals plan to work over the holiday," said Rurik Bradbury, VP marketing for Intermedia.NET.
