    One of the chores people hate most when using computers? Reentering information from one system into another system. After all, you're typing on the same computer, right? And data should be shared right? So why have to virtually schlep things like contact information from one system to another to another to another to get your work done? This week, at least two companies upgraded virtual schlepping to automated contact sharing.

    Intuit has announced plans to offer its Online Payroll service to Mac users of QuickBooks, enabling small business owners using Macs to manage their payrolls without having to rely on outside software.

    Millions of small and medium businesses use QuickBooks, at least according to maker Intuit that pegs the number around four million. Add in micro businesses using Quicken as the entry point, and who knows how high that number goes. But no product does everything, and if you need serious inventory support for thousands and thousands of items, you may find yourself looking at a name you never saw before: Fishbowl Inventory.

    The surprise among business applications that support the iPhone is how many of them have gone native. Of the seven business apps on our list, only one -- SugarCRM -- reaches the iPhone via the Safari Web browser. Native apps that tap Salesforce.com, Oracle CRM, Oracle BI, QuickBooks, and SiteCatalyst come from the App Store.

    Accounting SaaS provider Bill.com, Inc. (DEMOfall 07) has redone its integration with QuickBooks to provide one-click, two-way synchronization as a hosted service so accountants can manage accounts payables while their clients simply pay bills.
