June 30, 2008, 4:23 AM — Two standards for cabling systems to support 10Gb Ethernet have now been ratified. These are the USA standard EIA/TIA 568-B.2-10 Cat 6A and the world standard ISO/IEC 11801 ed. 2002 adm. 1 Class EA .
However, the ISO/IEC 11801 standard is currently are for channel links so the entire cabling link including patch cords would need to be provided by a single manufacturer. Component standards and permanent link standards for ISO/IEC 11801 are still in draft form and should be approved toward the end of 2009.
