August 08, 2008, 10:43 AM — A survey conducted by iGIZMO magazine into the gadget habits of the people in the U.K. has found that Brits often exhibit possessive, rude or downright peculiar behavior when it comes to using their mobile phones and favorite gadgets, including a whopping 35% who admit to using their phone while on the toilet.
Ross Burridge, Editor of iGIZMO, commented “We’re a nation that loves our gadgets and it seems we take our mobiles everywhere with us -- even to the lavatory. It’s amazing to think that some people will even chat and text while in the throes of passion or at funerals. Our survey also revealed some even stranger places that people admitted using their mobiles, such as while having a filling -- and even during a rectal examination.â€
The UK-wide survey, which looked into the gadget usage habits of nearly 10,000 male and female consumers aged 16 - 45, found that Brits are truly gadget obsessed: Many UK residents own two mobiles and two MP3 players each and consider them more important than alcohol and smoking. But before you get all excited about the possible health benefits of gadget addiction, the survey also found that nearly 9% of the younger members surveyed said their mobile phones were more important than family, health and friends -- which kind of makes you wonder about the point of having a mobile phone.
