August 03, 2012, 10:08 AM — Check out this cool animated video that shows off some of the more impressive features of NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information Systems (EODSIS).
In this animation, data from EODSIS is used to show "physical oceanography parameters such as ocean currents, winds, sea surface height and sea surface temperatures." NASA says the measurements, along with atmospheric measurements, "can help scientists understand the ocean's impact on weather and climate and what this means for life here on Earth.
And you thought the ocean was just the place where you went to work on your tan or build sand castles.
NASA also posted this video, discussing the water cycle and how much fresh water really exists.
