Hurricane Sandy time-lapse video shows exact moment of NYC blackout

Very cool video shows the storm coming in, taking out the power grid

By

In this very cool video, a camera on top of 2 Northside Piers recorded a bunch of footage of Hurricane Sandy approaching New York, and then the power loss that occurred on Manhattan (I think you can see the Con Ed explosion in the video as well).

According to this iO9 blog post, the video was created by Silas Maniatis. If you want to see the power go out quickly, jump ahead to the one-minute mark.

Let's hope that NYC gets back up and running as quickly as possible as the Northeast recovers from this hurricane.
