Like many things in life, it comes down to DNA, as well as the ability to blame your ancestors for passing down the possible “couch potato gene” from many generations to generations.
I can definitely see many, many people trying to use this as a reason why they don’t want to exercise in the future, much like some excuses I’ve heard from larger people about why they can’t lose weight as easily (“I’m big-boned!” or “I’m genetically programmed to eat that Double Whopper with cheese and bacon!”).
