December 17, 2008, 9:54 AM — Douglas Prasher was a biological researcher in the 1980s; when his grant money ran out, he gave a gene he was working on -- one that made jellyfish glow green -- to colleagues Martin Chalfie and Roger Tsien. Prasher ended up leaving academia and now drives an airport shuttle van in Alabama, while Chalfie and Tsien went on to win a Nobel Prize, in part based on that gene he developed.
