April 22, 2013, 5:36 PM — A week after the Boston Marathon bombings, I can take some time to reflect on the lessons learned in my position as CIO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. I think they apply as well to other IT departments far from Boston.
1. Risk planning is forever altered
To me, risk is calculated by multiplying the likelihood of an event by the impact of that event.
