The Server Budget You Wish You Had

It's Google. $757 million on hardware. In one quarter.

By

The $757 million Google spent on three data centers in the quarter ended Sept. 30 was the second-highest quarterly data-center-building rush in the company's history and a 60 percent increase compared to the same quarter a year ago. No. 2 was the first quarter of 2008, with $842 million.

That is, remember, per quarter.

Is there a way to boost your IT budget by percentages like that, or even catching on to Eric Schmidt's coattails a bit?

Try googling it.
