Intuit has announced plans to offer its Online Payroll service to Mac users of QuickBooks, enabling small business owners using Macs to manage their payrolls without having to rely on outside software. It plans to release the service in fall, 2009.

Combining Online Payroll with QuickBooks, Mac users will be able to pay employees, calculate earnings, payroll taxes and deductions, print paychecks and use direct deposit.

The service calculates federal and state payroll taxes; small businesses can write a check or pay federal and state taxes electronically as well.

Intuit Online Payroll is free for the first six months and costs US$9.95 per month thereafter for new users.
