Tate & Lyle's sugar refining business has moved to a Virtustream Xstream cloud.

The cloud is used by Domino Sugar, and the move follows that company's acquisition of Tate & Lyle's refining business last year. The xStream platform is also built on the IBM Tivoli automation and monitoring software.

The migration took approximately sixteen weeks to complete, and included shifting SAP applications and approximately 170 non-SAP applications into the cloud.

Domino Sugar said the move provides more flexibility for the T &L refining operations, and that by using the cloud it was able to more easily commission its own resources during the migration.

"By moving the infrastructure and applications directly onto the xStream enterprise cloud, we were able to leverage the flexibility and interoperability of the cloud to consolidate these systems into our own environment more efficiently," said Don Whittington, chief information officer at Domino Sugar.
