How to add useful lenses to the Unity desktop environment

Here's how you can add a number of helpful lenses to your Unity desktop.

1. Open a terminal window.

2. Type in the following commands then hit Enter after each.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jsevi83/unity
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/lenses
sudo apt-get update

3. Here is a list of commands to add the following lenses to your Ubutu Unity desktop environment. Just type in the commands, not the names above them.

Graphic Design Lens
sudo apt-get install unity-scope-colourlovers

Contacts Lens
sudo apt-get install scope-contacts-google
sudo apt-get install lens-contacts

Tomboy Lens
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:remi.rerolle/unity-lens-tomboy
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-tomboy

Flickr and Photo Lens
sudo apt-get install unity-scope-flickr

YouTube Lens
sudo apt-get install lens-video
sudo apt-get install scope-youtube

Book Lens
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-books
