The new logo for Windows 8 and Microsoft looks more like windows than before. Or does it look more like the Metro UI theme of tiles and icons?

As Windows 8 gets closer, Microsoft decided now is the time to refresh their logo as well. No more wavy flag colors arranged in a vaguely window shape, but real windows viewed from an angle. It does also harp back to the logo from Windows 1.0 (thanks, Forbes) but using a single color and straight lines everywhere strike some as going backwards, not forwards, and dumbing down the graphics.

Pentagram, designers to the corporate stars (Dell, Netgear, Nike etc) asked Microsoft why they have a flag when their name is Windows. No more flag, so now we have windows for Windows. But will the new look improve the acceptance of Windows 8, coming at a time few companies have fully migrated to Windows 7? Probably not, but new look is what Windows 8 is all about.

Love the new logo

Great logo. Finally a real window and not a flag. Love it.

I personally like the new MSFT logo and besides that it what’s inside that counts.

And meanwhile, many soft voices are saying the new logo is modernistic and metro is easy and fun to use.

Hate the new logo

I think it’s very appropriate to have 4 Blue Screens of Death coming right toward you. Pretty much captures my Windows experience, anyway.

This new one is way too bland.

Gates has gone religious in his old age. The cross image is stupid.

LOL....I wonder how much that cost them to develop?

The logo is fine, just add the 4 colors please!

The entire design of the new OS is junk. I have been playing with it for weeks and I HATE IT!!
