Use the terminal app to run GUI apps as root in OS X

Here's how you can run Mac GUI apps as root in OS X.

1. Open a terminal window.

2. Type in the following command then hit Enter.

sudo /Path/To/Application/ApplicationName.app/Path/To/Executable

3. Here's an example that will launch Text Edit as root:

sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit
