Here's how you can install Calibre 1.9 in Ubuntu 13.10. Calibre is free and open source ebook management software.

1. Open a terminal window.

2. Type in the following commands then hit Enter after each.

sudo apt-get install glibc xdg-utils python

sudo python -c "import sys; py3 = sys.version_info[0] > 2; u = __import__('urllib.request' if py3 else 'urllib', fromlist=1); exec(u.urlopen('http://status.calibre-ebook.com/linux_installer').read()); main()"
