Federal Communications Chairman Julius Genachowski told Congress today that a new plan for auctioning off part of the 700Mhz spectrum band for public safety would come by this coming February.
India has postponed to Jan. 30, 2009, the auction of 3G spectrum to give potential bidders more time to study bid documents and rules for the auction, a government agency said Tuesday.
The FCC has proposed new rules for auctioning a block of spectrum intended for police and fire departments -- with many of the rules similar to the first failed attempt at selling the spectrum.
