SQL Server 2008 service pack released

Microsoft Wednesday released a preview of the first service pack for SQL Server 2008, improving deployment tools but adding no new features to the software.

In this interview, Bob Kelly, Microsoft's corporate vice president of infrastructure server marketing, discusses the adoption rate of Windows Server 2008, Microsoft's plans for cloud-based services, and the recent declaration by Paul Maritz, an ex-Microsoft executive and current president and CEO of VMware, that the traditional server operating system "has all but disappeared."

MS claims more than 450,000 downloads of new SQL server

Software giant Microsoft has announced that more than 450,000 downloads have been recorded, to date, of the newly-launched version of SQL Server 2008. According to the Microsoft, SQL Server 2008 is only major database that includes comprehensive, integrated functionality for data management as well as advanced business intelligence out of the box.

Sidekick: The Good News & the Bad News
Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.
